I could write a million verses...

My life is definitely a rollercoaster this quarter. Though, that may not be the most appropriate metaphor. I mean, it's not going up and down like the phrase usually suggests. I mean to say that my life is going very fast right now, and I don't know how(if really) i am keeping up with it.

Between classes and extracirricular film shit, I'm finding I have very little free time. Hopefully that may correct itself soon, as I dropped a couple of the things I had been involved in. Heh, and I say that "I" dropped them, but that's really only the case for some things. I totally got fired from the band I had too recently been a part of. This happened, oh, a week and a half ago, I guess, maybe two. Anyway, it's interesting because they said that they couldn't deal with a pianist who was as busy as I am. They needed more commitment.

I'm definitely fine with that decision(seeing as how i'd been trying to get out of the band for a while, but i couldn't be mean to them, they were just nice people), and there's a good chance I'll be in some band next year with a couple people I know who like that stuff.

And speaking of being musically inclined, I've really been getting into my guitar as of late. I know it sat there for the greater part of the year, and in my room in Jeff City for an even longer time before that. Nevertheless, I've rekindled my passion for playing, and it's awesome.

And if I wasn't already too busy, there's always my love life. Heh, there's another thing I've been trying to rekindle. There are a couple prospects, but honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if I end up being single forever. Oh well, I guess I've gotten used to it by now. But enough sad, pappy crap.

So I got asked to be a male cheerleader for the NU Wildcats today. Yeah, I know. I'm in a group in my marketing class with a cheerleader, and she randomly IM's me today. It goes something like this:

CheerleaderchickwhosSNidon'tremember: Hey! So whenever you're around, I've got a question for you.
Auto Response from Maximos314: god, those people who read my blog on maxholstekicksass.com sure are awesome
Maximos314: hey
Maximos314: what's up?
CheerleaderChick: oh goodness. um, hey would you be interested in being a male cheerleader? we need some more guys, and you have the right build and attitude.

(keep in mind that last line was not exaggerated)

Maximos314: hah
Maximos314: really?
CheerleaderChick: yeah
Maximos314: well, I don't know. i don't know how much of a strain that would put on my throat
CheerleaderChick: don't worry, the guys don't do as much screaming. haha, they leave that for us.
Maximos314: hah
Maximos314: yeah

And that, more or less, is how the conversation began. I told her I would think about it, but I'll probably tell her no, mostly because I can't add a time commitment like that to my already overbooked schedule.

Oh yeah, also because I'd have to be a male cheerleader.

Final thought: I really love the weekend. And I'm incredibly excited that it's here.

Oh goodness....

So Thursdays and Tuesdays are turning into hell. Today, I was at various classes or meetings from 10AM straight to 8PM. No good. Luckily, though, I have NO classes tomorrow - just work. And if it's anything like work yesterday, I'll get to walk around campus with the likes of Rebecca Gilman. Oh yeah, THE Rebecca Gilman.

For those of you who don't know, Rebecca Gilman is a playwright applying to work here, and her works include Boy Gets Girl, and a bunch of others. She was a finalist for a Pulitzer prize one year. It was pretty cool. Ok, it's movie time. I'm out.

Final thought: All the sororities started Rush Week this week. Oh my god, I'm so glad I'm not a girl.

Ups and downs...

So this past week has been interesting, to say the least. My feelings for it fluctuated between pretty extreme highs and lows. For example: I was pretty bummed out and was generally tired up through Friday because rush week was just taking it all out of me, and on top of that, we only had 2 people join at that point.

So there was that. But Saturday got better. we had 4 more people join Lambda Chi that night, and the events at the house were pretty fun. (PS, I am having a really hard time typing this morning, and I don't know why). Then, when I got home from the house, I checked my email, and I was one of 3 students who got accepted to receive class credit for helping produce a late night comedy show(think Colbert Report). I hadn't planned at all on getting chosen, so this came as a huge surprise and made me very happy. Dan wasn't in our room at that time, he was at the house partying...

Which brings me to VERY early Sunday morning. I wake up around 5:30 to hear Dan stumbling into our room. I figure, at least he made it home tonight (the previous night he had been taken to the hospital because he passed out on the stairs, and he didn't get back till 1:30 the next afternoon). So I go back to sleep expecting nothing else to happen. I wake up next about 7:30 to see Dan standing in our room, pissing in our trash can. Yes, you read that right. I don't want to stop him, for fear he'd turn around and start pissing over everything in the room(because from my angle and sleepy eyes, it appeared...at first... that he was hitting his target).

I try to get his attention after he's finished, but he ignores me and gets back into bed. I jump out of my bed and run over to the trash can, curse his name, and then take out the bag. I figure Dan's not going to be doing much in his current state to clean up, so I might as well do as much as I can. After disposing of the trash, I come back to assess the damage. Turns out his aim wasn't as good as I had originally hoped. Luckily, he didn't get any on my guitar which was right next to the trash can, but he did miss a little to the left, right on his Playstation 2 and my VCR. I quickly unplug these two things and wake Dan's ass up.

Dan claims to not remember any of the next 30 minutes, but it consisted mostly of me yelling at him, and him not understanding why I was mad. After getting little to nothing accomplished, Dan gets back into bed and I'm left to clean up the brunt of his urine. This pisses me off, but I don't want our room stinking to high heaven, so I do it anyway. By now, it's about the time I would have gotten out of bed anyway for church, so I go out to get some breakfast and leave our room smelling like a back alley and cigarettes(he smokes when he gets drunk).

After I get back from church, Dan and I talk about the situation more, he agreed to finish cleaning it up. And as far as I can tell, it's clean enough. I'm still wary about using the Playstation 2, but I had to plug it back in to get one of my DVDs out that had been in there, and it seemed to be working fine. Still, I might just give it a little more time.

Anyway, that's how my week wrapped up. Now it's time to make some lunch before going to work and then my Romantic Comedies class.

Final thought: To clear up any confusion, I got married because I'm in a class called Marriage 101. I'm taking it because my "wife" needs it for her major.

January 6, 2006

You've passed the first step...

I'm guessing you're one of the people who wandered this way from my xanga, and if I'm correct, let me just say, Welcome! Here at MaxHolsteKicksAss.com, we try to provide the same amount of intellectual stimulation one is accustomed to receiving at any xanga page. ...except for Nick's.

It only seems fitting that I make this entry from work. Fridays are great days for me this quarter. I have no classes, and only work from 10-2. Holy crap, I've only been here for an hour? Damn. Anyway, point is, I have plenty of time to do homework on Fridays now, and I'm hoping that it will reflect well on my grades this quarter.

Speaking of this quarter, it's shaping... hold on... phone's ringing...

ANYWAY, this quarter is shaping up to be pretty great. I got married yesterday to a lovely girl who I've known for a little over 3 months and whose boyfriend I had a class with last year. Needless to say, when that class is over, I'm confident that I'll be able to successfully hold a relationship that lasts more than 3 weeks. But then again, I don't want to get my hopes up.

Ok, this is getting boring, I'm going to start working.

Final Thought: I'm really disappointed that the flash drive we have in the office neither flashes, nor drives.

January 5, 2006

Ok, it's up.

So, now that my blog is no longer a xanga page, I can feel the manliness beginning to return. I'm really tired right now though, it's rush week, and I get married tomorrow, so I'm going to bed. Goodnight.

Final thought: We'll decide later on the fate of the final thought.
